Vintage Lawn-boy 2-cycle self-propelled mower from 1978

  

The model number is: 8238AE, the serial number is: 84068179. This mower belongs to my neighbor. His dad bought this new when he lived in Oconomowoc WI back in 1978. I just put in 2 new crankshaft seals and the 3rd smaller seal that goes around the output shaft for the drive system. Also, cleaned carburetor, installed a new needle valve kit, installed new muffler gasket, new pull rope, cleaned out exhaust ports, installed a new primer bulb , new governor spring, & new gas line.

The switch body is cracked where it mounts up on top of the handle bar. The deck is in very good shape except where it has a crack on the right side near the back of the discharge chute. Also, the left front wheel has a crack down the middle but still works the way it is. It will need to be replaced in the future though.

The engine starts up and runs strong. It has 115 lbs of compression. I removed the electric starter , and installed a good used recoil that has a new pre-cut pull cord, and a new pinion gear.

I installed a new upper handle stop plate & screw for the drive/neutral handle. The battery will need to have new cells put in it. This mower takes a gas/oil mix ratio of 32:1. The item "Vintage Lawn-boy 2-cycle self-propelled mower from 1978" is in sale since Sunday, June 20, 2021.
