The model number is: 8270, the serial number is: 8706484. This mower I did get from the original owner & his wife. He bought it new in spring of 1979 & I did have to do a lot of work to it as it was in use every year since he bought it. I acquired it last fall & over the winter, I performed the following service & installed following parts on it. New top & bottom crankshaft bearings, new metal rimmed crankshaft seals including 3rd smaller seal on back of engine around driveshaft, new gasket between gearcase & engine block, new muffler gasket, new genuine Lawn-Boy ignition coil, new throttle control lever & new governor spring, new fuel cap, new needle valve kit in carb, new primer line, new air cleaner, new complete muffler assembly, new blade & a new blade nut. There obviously is a new CJ-14 spark plug installed in engine. The drive system has been completely rebuilt with a new complete drive shaft kit, new handle brackets, new sleeve bushings, new drive rollers, new drive covers, & upper control handle has a new handle stop plate & new lock out lever. This self-propelled system works like a charm, it really drives great. The aluminum deck has what I would call "normal" pitting and you can view it from the picture provided. The only chip in deck is on the bottom side & is small, I took a picture of that too so you can view. The paint job is obviously original & was in too good of shape to repaint it. The shroud is in great shape & has new decals added to it. This is a great running machine that is smooth as butter, especially because there is no end play with the new crank bearings. The engine has never been rebuilt & has 124 lbs of compression. When I had the engine off the housing, I cleaned the exhaust ports & could see how nice the piston & rings look. I obviously didn't have to clean the muffler as its new with no carbon inside. This mower is really ready for probably 40 more years of use as most of the parts are new on it. All parts are genuine new old stock except for the metal rimmed oil seals, they are just as good as the old green seals that OMC used to install. This is a true survivor & there are less & less of these mowers with each year. This takes a gas oil mix ratio of 32:1.
