Ariens Factory Original 510017 OEM gear set vintage 5,6 hp two stage snow blower

  
Up for offer is a new and unused Ariens OEM original 2pc gear set part # 510017 that includes the following parts to make up the set : the input shaft with the helix cut onto the end of it, and the ring gear that meshes into the helix (I believe the original gear set was known by old #'s 10244 & 10245). This gearset fits the oldest of Ariens snow blowers with the old style gearcase that has the following unique features to identify it : A the cross shaft shear bolts are the smaller 1/4 dia size, B the auger rake cross shaft has threads on the end of the shaft to accept large lock nuts and C the cast iron drive jaw would be keyed in place on the input shaft and it has set screws to hold it solid on the input shaft.

The snowblower this gearset is used on will have only 1 clutch lever (NOT 2 - which the later models use) next to the front end. The brace on top of the gearbox is not included and you must reuse your old brace. This part set was used on older snowblowers that had a 3.5hp, 4hp, 5hp, 6hp single belt powered two stage self propelled design that Ariens made from 1950 thru 1960's that are orange and white colored. This part set was used on many older snow blowers, such as model #'s 10M4, 10M5, 10M6, 10M6D, 10M7D, 10ML60D, 10ML60, as well as other similar older units. PS- please note that the cross shaft # 10110 (aka 01011000) inside the box is obsolete and no longer supplied - so if you've got a broken cross shaft in your old gear box- the parts are NOT readily available to repair it.
